Since IBM® WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0, the WebSphere proxy server has been available to provide intelligent routing of HTTP requests based on configured routing rules and performance metrics. Although not as smart as the on-demand router component of IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise, the proxy server can provide services above-and-beyond the traditional WebSphere HTTP plug-in implementation seen in practically all IHS-fronted WebSphere Application Server clusters. This article compares these solutions so you can make determine the best choice for your requirements: -

Can i use this proxy with websphere portal 6.1 or 7?
ReplyDelete@Kevin - yes, you can - the proxy component is included as part of the WebSphere Edge Components, which are part of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment product - this is included with WebSphere Portal.
ReplyDeleteThe new solution, DMZ Secure Proxy Server for IBM WebSphere Application Server, is included with WebSphere Application Server v7, on which WebSphere Portal 7 is based.
Take a look at the Portal Information Centre documents for more information: -

Hi Dave
ReplyDeleteLong time no hear.
I red this article a time ago, wondering whether WebSphere's Proxy can be used with IBM Connections 5. So I replaced the IHS and plugin installation having had no issue (so far). Any idea why the WebSphere Proxy is not officially supported with IBM Connections 5 ? Will it be ?
Best regards
Bernhard Hensler
Hey Bernhard
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been a very long time since the Connections bootcamp in 2010 :-)
With regard to your question, I've been away from Connections ( at the sharp end, at least ) since late 2012, so I'm behind the curve.
As a matter of interest, what makes you think it's not supported ?
It's not specifically mentioned here: -
http://www-969.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity-reports/report/html/prereqsForProduct?deliverableId=1351088302698&osPlatforms=AIX|IBM i|Linux|Mac OS|Mobile OS|Windows&duComponentIds=D000|S000|M000&mandatoryCapIds=30&optionalCapIds=7|12|9|63|35|20|101|32|46|140|27|26|40
and Websphere Edge Components and the Secure Proxy Server are both part of the IC5 download: -

Also, have you checked with Luis Benitez ?
