I am living in the past - missing ifconfig on Ubuntu

I've just rolled a new VM comprising Ubuntu 18.10, ready to build a Docker/Jenkins/Maven/Git/Liberty PoC environment.

First thing I did was to check my IP address: -

ifconfig

Command 'ifconfig' not found, but can be installed with:

sudo apt install net-tools


Ewwwww :-(

This helped: -



so I tried that: -

ip address show

I then dived back into the past: -

sudo apt install net-tools
